Networking

By connecting computers together on a network, many resources can be shared.
Most common shared resources are:
  • Printers
  • Internet Connection
  • Documents, Databases, Etc.
A network can also mean additional methods of communication within the office. By connecting the computers employees can communicate directly with one another using a form of instant messaging service. With the addition of a server, Outlook can serve as a full communication hub.
Solas can design, supply and install networking solutions for small offices. By discussing current requirements a network would be installed that would cover all existing needs, but also incorporating flexibility for future expansion.

Solas supplies all types of networking equipment.

This includes but is not limited to:
  • Hubs & Switches (For connecting the individual computers)
  • Routers & Modems (For connecting the network to the Internet)
  • Cabling & Fittings (Creates links between the computers & devices)
  • Print Servers (Allows printers to be connected directly to the network)
  • Network Storage (Provides storage space accessible to anyone on the network)

When setting up a network it is important that confidential information is kept that way. Permissions can be set up on the network to allow/restrict access to resources (files, internet, printers, etc.) for certain people. These permissions can also be set to prevent people outside the office from remotely logging into the network and getting hold of confidential information.
